HELLO, SPRING! NEW SEASON, NEW SKINCARE ROUTINE

HELLO, SPRING! NEW SEASON, NEW SKINCARE ROUTINE

The weather might still be a bit chilly, but the longer days and the blooming flowers tell us that a new season is upon us. With the arrival of Spring, the low temperatures are no longer the main concern for our skin. The mild temperatures invite us to stay out, and whether it is the day-to-day, short stays abroad, or leisure walks on the beach or in the countryside, sunscreen should not be forgotten.

Details like this make the difference in the health of your skin, so take into account the type of external aggressions to which your skin is subjected to in each season in order to give it the most appropriate care. To help prepare your skin for the good weather follow these tips:

Prepare your skin for the sun

The use of sun protection should be year-round but, of course, with the arrival of the warmer seasons, extra care is required. Wear sunscreen in abundance to prevent burns, blemishes, dark spots, premature aging of the skin, and skin cancer. The protector should be applied at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied every 3 hours.

Lightweight and soft skin cleaning

You should choose a cleanser that fits your skin type and seasonal needs. The same way we change our wardrobe, from boots, coats and heavy sweaters to dresses and sandals, during Spring it's also important to replace the rich and moisturizing cleansers - that are excellent for protecting the skin from the cold and rainy winter - to a lighter, smoother formula that will help cleanse the skin and give it a fresh feel.

Exfoliate for a fresh start

The cold, the rain and the humidity of wintertime cause an accumulation of a series of toxins in our pores. The dead skin cells, the excess of heavy moisturizers, and the environmental toxins pile up in our skin, giving it a spleen, lifeless air, and even the occasional pimples. So we recommend exfoliating the skin to prepare it for the new season, avoiding blackheads and dehydration. Do a gentle exfoliation, two to three times a week, to rid the skin of these accumulated toxins. The exfoliation allows us to eliminate the dead cells and intensifies the absorption of the cosmetics applied later, and, in addition, stimulates the cellular regeneration.

Cool down

With the higher temperatures, start to include a cold shower in your routine. It has several benefits for the skin and the body, boosting the immune system, leaving the skin looking healthier, relieving stress and even awakening the body so you can start the day energized and in a great mood.

Hydrate with a face mask

Having moisturized skin can help avoid the appearance of wrinkles. Indulge yourself with a facial mask for a healthy, vibrant, outdoor-fresh look. You can even do it yourself, with ingredients that I'm sure you have at home.

One of my favorite’s homemade recipes for the Spring weather is a hydrating egg white mask. It gives a cooling sensation and helps smooth out wrinkles and hydrate aging skin.

Ingredients:

  •    1 egg white
  •    ¼ ripe avocado
  •    1 teaspoon yogurt

Directions:

  1.    Using a fork, mash the avocado until it turns into a lump-free paste.
  2.    Add the egg white and yogurt and mix well.
  3.    Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your face with clean fingers and sit for about 15 minutes.
  4.    Wash off the mask with lukewarm water when the time is up and pat your face dry with a towel. You can check this and other egg masks' recipes at Bellatory’spage.

In addition to the external care of your skincare routine, we recommend you keep in mind the importance of a healthy diet. A balanced diet is the best ally in keeping the skin always luscious and healthy looking. Natural and raw foods, rich in vitamins, can help to achieve beautiful skin. We recommend that you use little makeup, keep a good diet, exercise and, above all, enjoy this wonderful time of the year!

Love,
Miri
